An idea for the Overview Page for projects:
Currently I see Statistics, Recent Activity and Late Milestones (if they exist). What I think is more functional and productive is to have a PROJECT OVERVIEW section that lists Upcoming Milestones and Task Lists associated with the project.
It would also be nice to add a module area on the Dashboard that lists out all Upcoming Milestones, Projects and Task Lists to get a general overview. Hours worked and billable time are nice, however, to get things done it would be beneficial to SEE a brief view of workflow/pipeline which would include the work, not just the money.
Thanks for a great product to try against all the other similar products that require using 2 - 4 other apps.

The dashboard and project overview page do have the "upcoming milestones", it's called "Upcoming milestones in the next 2 weeks"
Listing Tasklists/Tasks on the overview/dashboard page is too much. There are ppl that have tens or hundreds of tasks. you have the "Tasks" page (under each project) for that plus the "My Tasks" page. -

I am missing the overview of task deadlines.... i need a function that i can look of a overview within each project. I have a big project going on and there are lot of tasks that are due x day and x day, i would like to be able to see in a simple calendar way what tasks are due that and that day.... i have no overview of the tasks that have a deadline...
i understand that some of your clients have hundreds of tasks so this function is maybe not suitable for them, but you probably have hundreds of small/midsized clients where this function is crucial to get good overview.
I like your system a lot, but this is a function that makes we wonder if it can fulfill my needs as a midsize client.-
This is a feature we are considering but not in the immediate future, until then, on the "my tasks" page or on "tasks" page from a project you can use the filter in the right column to show only tasks that are due in 1 week/ 2 weeks ....

I do agree the tasks may be a bit much. I have used the app a little more and see where some of the things I'm looking for show up. It would still be nice to see a list of all projects on the main overview page. I have started a full blown 30-day trial with Basecamp. I see how your app works and looks a lot like Basecamp. They provide that list of projects on the right as well as the upcoming milestones and recent activity. This is what I'm looking for when viewing the main overview page before I have to click on any tab to drill down. What about the ability to add a project list on the main page and maybe filter it to show only the top 10 projects due in the next 60 days or something to that effect?
a) Believe it or not, we have clients with hundreds of projects an a box like that would not work. There is also no criteria for "top 10" projects so that we can limit that number (basecamp accounts have a limit on the number of projects, that's why they know exactly that the list of projects will not exceed X, thus allowing them to display the list on the dashboard)
b) The complete list of projects is just 1 click away
c) If you want to get fast to a certain project (or it's tasks) with witch you work frequently, you have the option of adding custom tabs in the main menu that can link to any page within paymo (or even exterior pages)
d) We designed the system so that it requires minimum interaction to get everything you need from time tracking. What that means is that once you set up your client/project in the backend, you don't need to go there except for creating reports/invoices. The way you interact with the system on a daily bases is through the desktop widget which allows you to track the work you do, create new tasks and mark as "complete" the old tasks.
I'm sure there are reasons. Noninvasive? Good question, mainly a suggestion since I don't code your app. I suppose I will just a) Belive it or not and see what else there is to do.
Thanks for the b) feedback and the c) neat app to add to the ranks for the freelancer. I'll be sure to d) add my other questions to a separate topic.
Cheers.
